Physical Therapy At Balance
We want you to regain normal movement and
alleviate your pain. Pain is a common denominator among people
seeking Physical Therapy. We make a point of making your pain
experience a part of our ongoing conversation. It’s important
that we understand not only your experience but also your goals.
We make a promise to communicate clearly and honestly with
you throughout your therapy.
Education
Knowledge about the body and how it heals
and strengthens is always evolving, which is why the very
best Physical Therapists attain the highest levels of education
in their fields and then commit to ongoing education. At
Balance Physical Therapy, we have Masters and Doctorate degrees
in Physical Therapy. We also hold degrees and certifications
in Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning from The
National Strength and Conditioning Association. We are NATA
board certified at the national level, and have completed
residencies and fellowships at the Institute of Orthopaedic
Manual Therapy, an affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital.
The Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy is grounded
in the Norwegian National Program in orthopaedic manual therapy,
which promotes the efficient, effective management of musculoskeletal
disorders. The Institute is one of only eleven programs in
the US recognized by the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) and is affiliated with
Boston University and Massachusetts General Hospital.
The National Strength and Conditioning Association
(NSCA) is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning.
The NSCA supports and disseminates research-based knowledge
and its practical application to improve athletic performance
and fitness. The National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA)
mission is to enhance the quality of health care provided
by certified athletic trainers and to advance the athletic
training profession.
Education is important for patients as well.
At Balance Physical Therapy we educate you about how your
body works and why you are experiencing pain or dysfunction
because we know this will increase your awareness and enable
you to take an active role in your own recovery process.
Communication
Communication is critical to the healing
process. At Balance Physical Therapy we practice open communication
between all members of the team.
During our
sessions with you we focus on what you are telling us, asking
questions and listening to your stories. We encourage you
to share as much as you can about your goals for healing,
rehabilitation and strengthening. We want to know about the
pain you are experiencing, what you feel you can tolerate,
and how much you want to push yourself. We always try to
draw out your vision for what you want to achieve – in
your particular sport and in your life.
Communication is equally important between
Physical Therapists within our practice and between Physical
Therapist and doctor/healthcare provider. We’ll stop
and consult with our colleagues when we think it will improve
your treatment. We will make a phone call to your doctor if
we discover something important during the course of your therapy.
Camaraderie
Well-being and recovery are closely linked
to a feeling of camaraderie and connection. At Balance Physical
Therapy we think warmth and humor, together with professionalism,
make all the difference for everyone. We maintain a light-hearted,
relaxed atmosphere where you feel connected to the staff and
even, if you choose, connected to other patients. We believe
that a practice that feels sterile and isolating for you will
tend to have less success than one where interaction and connection
are fostered. Of course we always respect your privacy.
We treat all types of conditions including:
- Ankle injury
- Arthritis
- Back Pain
- Headaches
- Hip Pain
- Knee Injury
- Injuries as a result of Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Joint Dysfunction
- Neck Pain
- Osteoarthritis
- Post-surgical Conditions
- Shoulder Pain
- Spinal Conditions
"The Physical Therapists at Balance are very attentive.
They listen well and spend a lot of time with you. If
you give them a miniscule detail they will remember it.
They are honest, too; my Physical Therapist Chris told
me that Physical Therapy alone wouldn’t fix things --
I would still need surgery to repair my injury. My outcome
was great. I went from not being able to walk to walking
again just 3 weeks later. From a personal point of view,
they made me feel very good. At Balance the atmosphere
is friendly and relaxed."
