Catherine is a 1986 graduate from Northeastern University having received her Bachelor of Science in Physical
Therapy.
Following graduation, she initially was employed
at New England Rehab Hospital in Woburn,
MA. Her experience there was in Outpatient Orthopedics and
Aquatic Therapy and helped define her
career path which largely has consisted of outpatient orthopedic
and manual therapy in the private practice
sector.
She worked in a Concord, NH private practice
for seven years and became Director of PT Services
and personnel. From there, after starting a family, she worked
part time in Acute Care and then returned
to Private Practice working in Nashua, NH. Her love of education,
both teaching and learning, led her
to pursue teaching at Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH.
After pursuing some business education
while providing per diem Physical Therapy services, she opened
her own Private PT Practice in Salem, NH
and ran that endeavor for two years. She was offered a teaching
position at Hesser College in their PTA
program and was there up until May of 2008. At that time, she
continued working in private practice in
Plaistow and Salem, NH which allowed her to apply her clinical
skills in Manual Therapy and work one
on one with her clients.
She currently teaches as adjunct faculty
at Umass Lowell in their DPT program.
Catherine joined Balance PT and Rehab in May of 2011. She is a
member of the APTA (American Physical
Therapy Association) and has participated in many Community
Health and Wellness Programs. She is
currently pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Simmons
College School of Health Sciences.
Her
skills in Manual Therapy including Myofascial Release, Muscle
Energy Techniques, Strain CounterStrain
and Craniosacral Therapy, combined with the more traditional
PT approaches, allows her to deliver a
comprehensive treatment plan to address each individuals specific
goals and needs. She believes in
empowering her patients, students and the community with the
skills and tools necessary to optimize their
total well-being.
Catherine’s interests outside of work include reading, cooking, gardening and traveling. She participates in
Jazzercise, Yoga and kickboxing and loves to be on or in the water whether power boating, sailing, or
kayaking. In the winter, Catherine loves to snow shoe and snowmobile (when her husband and son let her!)
She lives in Salem with her husband, son and dog, Obie.
