Nancy Manchester, MSPT
Nancy
completed a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at Boston University
in 1997. Her undergraduate degree is a Bachelors of Science in Exercise
Physiology from the University of Massachusetts. She graduated Magna
Cum Laude from UMASS in 1994.
At Balance Physical Therapy Nancy works with the full spectrum of patients.
Her ongoing interests include manual therapy and women’s health.
Through her continuing education Nancy has enhanced her expertise in
treating shoulder injuries, as well as treatment of the spine and core
stabilization
Nancy enjoys skiing, snowshoeing, walking, and hiking, and also regularly
exercises through yoga, weight training and group classes. She lives
in Windham with her husband and three children.
Nancy loves her work as a Physical Therapist because it allows her to
have a hands-on role in helping people recover from pain and injuries
and then improving their function, independence and overall lives. She
believes that an important part of her role as a physical therapist is
to educate her patients about their bodies so that they are empowered
to further their own healing.
In the course of her training Nancy gained a wide range of clinical
experience. At Parkland Rehabilitation Services in Londonderry, NH, Nancy
worked primarily with patients with orthopedic concerns, including patients
recuperating from total or partial knee and hip replacements, as well
as those recovering from shoulder, back, and ankle surgery. She also
worked with patients with osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.
While at Massachusetts General Hospital she worked in orthopedic, medical,
chest and surgical settings. During her three years with the Brockton
Visiting Nurse Association she worked with patients in home care settings,
evaluating and treating those with pulmonary, cardiac, neurological,
medical, surgical and orthopedic issues. She also provided home safety
training to patients and their families.
Nancy has done internships at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center,
Sports Conditioning Center in Brookline, Promina Kennestone Hospital
in Georgia and Everett Rehabilitation Services in Everett, Mass.
Nancy joined Balance Physical Therapy in 2008.
