Pete Olson, ATC, MPT
Peter Olson is a Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer.
He has a Masters in Physical Therapy and has completed a residency and
a fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy from the Institute of Orthopaedic
Manual Therapy, an affiliate of Mass General and Boston University.
Pete kayaks, skis and sails, and enjoys spending time with his friends
and family. Pete volunteered with the Adaptive Ski program at Breckenridge
Outdoor Education Center helping people who would otherwise not be able
to enjoy outdoor recreational sports.
At Balance Physical Therapy Pete works with a broad spectrum of patients,
including children with Muscular Dystrophy, seniors with gait problems,
competitive athletes, and everyone in between. Pete partners with every
patient to achieve success. He encourages patients to be active participants
in the process, teaching them about how their bodies work and how they
can be involved in the therapy and training. He’s a great listener
and problem solver.
Education and Experience
Pete completed a Masters in Physical Therapy at Notre Dame College in
Manchester NH. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with
a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Athletic
Training.
In December of 2009 Pete completed a two year fellowship at the Institute
of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in Woburn, MA. The Institute training is
based on the Norwegian National Program in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy,
which Pete says has revolutionized his approach to evaluation, manual
therapy, exercise therapy and problem-solving skills to better serve
his patients.
Pete has gained a wide range of expertise over the years, including
work as a travelling Physical Therapist for Sunbelt Staffing, Inc, and
Athletic Trainer during his time at Physiotherapy Associates in San Francisco.
He gained skill and expertise while working with cardiac, pulmonary and
neurologically involved patients and post-surgical clients at St. Mary’s
Medical Center. At HealthSouth Pete worked with college level elite athletes
at Stanford University in Palo Alto California.
Pete worked with Chris Pierce at Merrimack Valley Physical Therapy for
five years before they founded Balance Physical Therapy in 2006. They
share a belief that the ideal Physical Therapy integrates the highest
standard of clinical care with a whole-life approach to finding strength
and balance.
